“The Five Senses are the Ministers of the Soul.” Leonardo Da Vinci

Decor and Accessories.
Appealing to emotions through materials, textures, colours, fragrance, and fabric selections.
A refined and sophisticated design sensibility,
that values sensory experiences.
A world appealing to all five senses making a house a home.
Considering the interactions of our Sight, Touch, Scent, Sound, Taste and Memory are so important and should always be considered.
These layers bring elements of experiences, emotions to design that add motivation, inspiration and real joy - not to mention long term contentment.
The added benefits of being in an environment that’s well designed around you - your needs, your personality, your lifestyle – are immeasurable.
It’s always a process, an evolvement over time, what worked for us in the past is not what necessarily will work for us today. Time changes things, so things in our home should also evolve… some things will perhaps remain familiar and constant, things you absolutely love like a piece of great art or collection, core to Upper North Studios’ creativity & focus, or a treasured family heirloom. It can so often too, be about a different or fresh perspective on items you already have like a much loved chair, repurposed, refinished, recovered. (like mine below :)! Beautiful vintage buckles used as napkin holders? Sure, why not, a new perspective brings in different ideas, but don’t be afraid to also let other things go that no longer serve.

“Our highest assurance of providence seems to me to rest in the flowers. All other things, our powers, our desires, our food, are really necessary for our existence in the first instance. But this rose is an extra. Its smell and its colour are an embellishment of life, not a condition of it. It is only goodness which gives extras, and so I say again that we have much to hope from the flowers.”
~ AC Doyle
I love this quote! Flowers, gifts from nature ~ Transitory and fleeting, reminding us to smell and enjoy them in their moment!
Always a wonderful addition in any space!
